Sehr geehrte Mitglieder!
Erneut neigt sich ein ereignisreiches Jahr dem Ende zu. Ein Highlight für unsere Gesellschaft war ganz sicher unsere Jahrestagung im November in Graz. Mit mehr als 100 Teilnehmenden, einem vielseitigen wissenschaftlichen Programm, großartigen Keynotes und einer inspirierenden Start-Up Session sowie der Verleihung des Stefan-Schuy-Preises war es eine rundherum gelungene Veranstaltung. Unser besonderer Dank gilt an dieser Stelle nochmals den Tagungspräsidentinnen Kerstin Lenk und Theresa Rienmüller.
Das kommende Jahr wird ein ganz besonderes für die ÖGBMT. Im Jahr 1975 gegründet, feiert unsere Gesellschaft 2025 ihr 50-jähriges Bestehen. Wir wollen dieses Jubiläum mit Ihnen allen gemeinsam am 23.10.2025 im Van Swieten Saal der Medizinischen Universität Wien begehen. Bitte merken Sie sich diesen Termin bereits heute vor! Darüber hinaus befindet sich aus diesem Anlass ein Buch zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum in Vorbereitung, Sie dürfen gespannt sein.
Ein weiteres Highlight im kommenden Jahr wird sicher die Dreiländertagung BMT 2025, die gemeinsame Jahrestagung der Deutschen, Schweizer und Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Biomedizinische Technik, die vom 9. Bis 11. September in Muttenz/Basel in der Schweiz stattfinden wird, und zu der wir sie recht herzlich einladen möchten.
Als Vorstand werden wir uns auch im kommenden Jahr den aktuellen Herausforderungen im Bereich der Biomedizinischen Technik widmen und die Professionalisierung der Strukturen und den Außenauftritts unserer Gesellschaft weiter vorantreiben. Dabei freue ich mich und hoffe auf eine weiterhin enge und produktive Zusammenarbeit. Die ÖGBMT lebt von den Ideen und dem Engagement ihrer Mitglieder!

7. M3d+it Kongress 2024 in Wien – Rückblick

Die 7. M3d+it Konferenz, die am 29. und 30. November 2024 in Wien stattfand, brachte Experten, Forscher und Innovatoren im Bereich des fortschrittlichen medizinischen 3D-Drucks und der digitalen Technologien aus Europa und darüber hinaus zusammen. Die Teilnehmer erkundeten in einem sehr dichten wissenschaftlichen Programm innovative Fortschritte, klinische Anwendungen und regulatorische Herausforderungen und knüpften während der festlichen Weihnachtszeit in Wien Kontakte. Wir freuen uns, die „European Conference for 3D Technologies and Printing in Hospitals“ ankündigen zu können, die am 28. und 29. November 2025 in Wien stattfindet. Diese Veranstaltung, die parallel zur M3d+it Konferenz stattfindet, wird sich ausschließlich auf die Weiterentwicklung des 3D-Drucks im Gesundheitswesen konzentrieren.

Dr. Günter Schreier, Habil. für Biomedizinische Informatik, MSc für Communications, aktuell Senior Scientist am AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Thematischer Koordinator für „Digital Health“, mehrmonatige Eminent Research Fellowships an der University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australien, Lehrtätigkeit an der Technischen Universität Graz und mehreren Fachhochschulen, Leiter des Arbeitskreises „Medizinische Informatik und eHealth“ der Österreichischen Computer Gesellschaft, seit 2007 Gründer und Präsident der jährlichen wissenschaftlichen dHealth–Tagung in Wien, Berater verschiedener Institutionen des Gesundheitswesens auf nationaler und europäischer Ebene.

Assoc. Prof. DI Dr. Jörg Schröttner (kooptiertes ÖGBMT Vorstandsmitglied und Arbeitsgruppenleiter)
Herrn Jörg Schröttner wurde nach Absolvierung des Diplomstudiums im Jahre 2003 der Titel Dr.techn. an der Technischen Universität Graz verliehen. Im Jahr 2008 habilitierte er im Fachbereich Health Care Engineering und ist derzeit als Assoc. Prof. am Institut für Health Care Engineering mit Europaprüfstelle für Medizinprodukte an der Technischen Universität Graz tätig.
Vor dem Hintergrund aktueller soziodemografischer Entwicklungen befasst sich Dr. Schröttner in seiner wissenschaftlichen Arbeit mit methodischen, technischen, betrieblichen, organisatorischen, ökonomischen und qualitätssichernden Aspekten der intra- und extramuralen Gesundheitsversorgung unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Patientensicherheit. Ziel ist es, Patienten zu helfen, ihre Krankheit effizient, wirtschaftlich, ohne vermeidbare Risiken und qualitätsgesichert zu heilen oder zu lindern. Er ist Autor von mehr als 70 Publikationen in Fachzeitschriften, Büchern und Tagungsbänden sowie von Patenten. Darüber hinaus ist Dr. Schröttner seit über 20 Jahren im Bereich der Medizinproduktezulassung bei der staatlich anerkannten Prüf- und Zertifizierungsstelle für Medizinprodukte tätig. Er ist Experte für die Entwicklung, Herstellung, Prüfung und Zulassung von aktiven Medizinprodukten und ist Lead-Auditor für Qualitätsmanagementsysteme nach EN ISO 13485 und 9001.

Dear members,
Another eventful year is drawing to a close. Our annual conference in Graz in November was certainly a highlight for our organisation. With more than 100 participants, a varied scientific programme, great keynotes and an inspiring start-up session as well as the presentation of the Stefan Schuy Award, it was an all-round successful event. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the conference presidents Kerstin Lenk and Theresa Rienmüller once again.
The coming year will be a very special one for the ÖGBMT. Founded in 1975, our organisation will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025. We want to celebrate this anniversary together with all of you on 23 October 2025 in the Van Swieten Hall of the Medical University of Vienna. Please make a note of this date today! We are also preparing a book to mark the 50th anniversary, so you can look forward to it.
Another highlight in the coming year will certainly be the three-country conference BMT 2025, the joint annual conference of the German, Swiss and Austrian Society for Biomedical Engineering, which will take place from 9 to 11 September in Muttenz/Basel in Switzerland, and to which we would like to cordially invite you.
As the Executive Board, we will continue to focus on the current challenges in the field of biomedical engineering in the coming year and continue to drive forward the professionalisation of our company’s structures and external image.
I look forward to and hope for continued close and productive cooperation.The ÖGBMT thrives on the ideas and commitment of its members!

Dr Günter Schreier, Habil. for Biomedical Informatics, MSc for Communications, currently Senior Scientist at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Thematic Coordinator for ‘Digital Health’, several months of Eminent Research Fellowships at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, teaching at the Graz University of Technology and several universities of applied sciences, head of the working group ‘Medical Informatics and eHealth’ of the Austrian Computer Society, founder and president of the annual scientific dHealth conference in Vienna since 2007, advisor to various healthcare institutions at national and European level.

Assoc. Prof. DI Dr. Jörg Schröttner(co-opted ÖGBMT board member and working group leader)
Jörg Schröttner was awarded the title of Dr.techn. at Graz University of Technology in 2003 after completing his diploma studies. In 2008 he habilitated in the field of Health Care Engineering and is currently Assoc. Prof. at the Institute for Health Care Engineering with European Testing Centre for Medical Devices at Graz University of Technology.
Against the background of current socio-demographic developments, Dr. Schröttner’s scientific work deals with methodological, technical, operational, organisational, economic and quality assurance aspects of intramural and extramural healthcare, with a particular focus on patient safety. The aim is to help patients to cure or alleviate their illness efficiently, economically, without avoidable risks and with quality assurance. He is the author of more than 70 publications in specialist journals, books and conference proceedings as well as patents. In addition, Dr Schröttner has been working for over 20 years in the field of medical device approval at the state-approved testing and certification body for medical devices. He is an expert in the development, manufacture, testing and authorisation of active medical devices and is lead auditor for quality management systems in accordance with EN ISO 13485 and 9001.
